GMR Turns 40

4 decades of experiential memories

In 1979, GMR was the first agency to connect brands and bands in the now legendary Miller Band Network. Those connections—the passion we tapped into, and the memories that were formed—proved to us that we had hit upon something powerful.

Soon after, we coined the term “event marketing agency,” and experiential marketing was born.

And as we reflect back on the 40 years of innovation that have brought us this far, we’re grateful for all of the fun we’ve had and firsts we’ve been a part of. Somewhere in a closet, there are Polaroids of our team introducing Apple computers to college campuses in the mid-80s. Somewhere on an SD card, there are shots of us hosting a concert (the world’s only?) on the North Pole.

The list goes on and on (and you can bet we’ll be taking full advantage of #TBT this year). And as we look back, we are proud of all the memories we’ve made along the way—not just for our teams, but for the tens of millions of people who’ve been a part our experiences over the past 40 years.

And we’re just getting started.

Follow us on Instagram, Facebook and LinkedIn as we celebrate the last 40 years and look forward to what’s next.
