Mat Johnson Joins GMR

Former Nike executive enhances agency’s global experiential practice

GMR Marketing, a sponsorship and experiential leader, has strengthened its global experiential presence and knowledge with the hire of former senior director of global brand events at Nike, Mat Johnson. Joining GMR as an experiential strategist, Johnson will continue to use his global background in brands, technologies, culture and events to partner with multiple GMR teams and clients to develop strategic marketing plans, proposals and strategies for growth.

“Mat’s blend of global experience on the world’s largest stages, with arguably one of the most iconic brands, will bolster our already strong global footprint and our ability to bring value to our clients and their consumers,” said Tyson Webber, President of GMR Marketing.

Over the past 25+ years, Johnson has evolved brand experiences worldwide starting with Nike programs, such as the Nike Run Club and Nike Training Club. He was also responsible for innovation with Nike’s consumer engagements during seven Olympics and five FIFA World Cups. After leaving Nike, Johnson founded White Fox Consulting to offer live strategy to brands and businesses including Intel, FIBA and Specialized.
